The wedding took place at the Wells Creek Evangelical church at 5:00 p.m. Sunday January 24th, 1943. The bride wore a pastel pink dress and Miss Bernadine Armbrust who attended her, wore a powder blue dress. The groom was attend by Mr. Leland Pageler. A wedding dinner was served following the ceremony at the home of the grooms parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Pageler. Mrs. Armburust and Mrs. Harold Hafenstein assisting. Margene L Pageler Obituary Margene L. Pageler, 85, of Wamego, died Friday afternoon, May 15th, 2009, at Vintage Park. Margene was born February 12, 1924 in McFarland, Kansas, the daughter of George and Alvin (Schweir) Armburst. Margene attended school in McFarland and Wamego and spent most of her life in this area. Margene met and fell in love with her husband Harry Walter Pageler, a romantic courtship, and they were married on January 24, 1943, a union that lasted 48 years. He was her best friend and the love of her life until he preceded her in death on November 1st, 1991. They shared a love of the outdoors, fishing, gardening, farming, music and dancing and were blessed with five children. Margene ended her career as a farmer’s wife and later became a housekeeper. She devoted her life to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very talented in embroidering and cross-stitching which she shared with friends and taught all of her children and some of her grandchildren as well. She, Harry and the kids spent weekends and vacations together fishing and attending other family events. Margene and Harry also loved gardening together, growing their plants from seeds in their backyard, particularly tomatoes and their grapes, to which they became quite “famous” for and shared with family and friends. Margene is survived by her four children: Carol Jo Coon and her husband Mike, Harry Dean Pageler and his wife Marilyn, Linda Sue Brunkow and her husband LeRoy and Brenda Ann McNorton and her husband Karl; her fifteen grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; and her sister Bernadene Scully and brother Harold “Ace” Armburst. Preceding her in death were her husband Harry Walter Pageler, her daughter Betty Lou Bennett, her sister Evelyn Geiken and her brother George Armburst III. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday May 19th, 2009 at Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. The family will gather and greet friends at a visitation one hour prior to services starting at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Margene will lie in state Monday from 1-5 p.m.. Memorials have been designated in Margene’s name for Immanuel Faith Community Church of Wells Creek, Vintage Park and Heartland Hospice of Topeka and contributions may be left in care of the funeral home P.O.
