Sibley Gazette, Sibley Iowa, June 9, 1911 - Henry C Schroeder Henry C Schroeder died Saturday at Rodchester, Minn, where he underwent an operation for intestinal trouble. The funeral was held from the M.E. Church Tuesday afternoon, Rev H.R. Williams preaching the sermon. Interment was made in the Sibley cemetery. The deceased was one of Osceloa county's pioneers , coming her in 1872. Henry Cristof Schroder was born Sept 8, 1841, in the provinces of Hanover Germany. In the spring of 1863 he was married to Elizabeth King whom he survived fifteen years. In 1865 he came to America and after a short sojourn in New York City, he moved to Loganville, Wisconsin. In 1872 he came with his family to Osceola county, where he settled on a homestead. Nine children were born to this union Three died in infancy. Four sons and two daughter survived him. John and William of Osceola county; Edward h of Lincoln, Nebraska; Frank B, Chicago, Minnie and Mrs. Anna Jaeger of North Yakim, Washington. He resided on the farm until 1899, since which time he has made his home with his niece. Mrs Robt Richardson of Sibley, spending the winters with his son Edward in Lincoln. For many years he was a member of the evangelical church of Allendorf, and after coming to Sibley he attended the Methodist churc h. Several months previous to his death he was operated on for intestinal trouble in St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Lincoln, Nebr. Upon recurrence of the trouble he went to Rodchester, Minn., for a second operation from which he did not recover. He died Saturday, June 3, 1911, aged 69 years, 8 months and 24 days.
