Title | Zornig / Zürnig usw - Familien im Banat, Schlesien, Österreich u.a. |
Description | Over the last months I have been researching the Zornigs that spelled their names Zoernig etc. This branch of the Zornig family originated from Silesia, an area that is located south of Wrocław [German: Breslau], in the Glatz shire [Polish: Powiat Kłodzki]. During the turmoil of the last hundred years, the German families of Poland and Czechoslovakia were exiled or resettled. [In 1946, the expulsion of the Germans of the Glatz shire began] When looking for work, the Zornig/ Zörnig/ Zöernig/ Zürnig/ Zornicht families of Silesia moved further southwards to Moravská Třebová [German: Mährisch Trübau] and on to the ancestral homeland of the Habsburg monarchy, to a part of Lower Austria, north of Vienna, as early as 1800. Here lives a big group that I have researched by now (1650 – 1930). Many families have migrated to America. Contrary to my original assumption, there is increasing evidence that between the Zornigs/Zörnigs/Zöernigs/Zürnigs/Zornichts of East Prussia and the ones of Silesia had indeed been a connection. Jonas Zornicht, the organist from Königsberg, was awarded a scholarship for Amsterdam [from 1612 until 1614 at Sweelinck’s] by the city council. It is a proven fact that he did not travel there directly, but at first visited his uncle Neyer, his mother’s (Anne Neyer) brother in Posen [Polish: Poznan]. Here is my request: Do you have documents or any kind of information about your ancestors, prior to their migration to the states? It would be great to hear from you again. Best wishes Peter http://zornigahnen.blogspot.co.at/
