About the year 1770 the four Ratchfords came to Main a Dieu, Cape Breton. John, one of the three brothers, soon left and settled inPrince Edward Island.He married there and left a family. The name ran out in that branch of thefamily as far as it is known to the Cape Breton Ratchfords, but there are various families descended from daughters of the family in Prince Edward Island.
