Notizen zu dieser Person

He was called Christian.

Birth:
He was born on the 2nd of February 1792 in the village Stehlen in the Sulingen parish in Lower Saxony in Germany. His parents were Johann Conrad and Anne Margarete Meyer. (F1)
In 1910 Stehlen had 126 inhabitants. (A1)

Childhood:
He grew up on his parents' farm in Stehlen. One of his brothers probably inherited it. (F1)

Work:
His wife inherited the Michaelis farm in the village Hassel, which is also in the Sulingen parish. He worked the farm (German: Vollmeier). (F1)
His property was farm No. 3 in Hassel. During the censuses that were taken in 1833, 1836, 1839, 1842 and 1845 he was the owner of the farm. In 1848 and 1855 his widow owned the farm. In 1855 there was one house on the property and his widow and 5 of his children lived there. (F11)
According to a taxation contract from the civic administration in Siedenburg, Johann Heinrich Christian Meyer's property measured 97 Morgen and 45 Quadrat-Ruten, ie., 24 ha in 1843. At that time three farmers (Vollmeier) and one Kötner lived in Hassel. The Kötner only owned a house with less than one hectare of land. In the document it says that 1 ha of land in Hassel, which belonged to the Bürger Family Runge from Sulingen, had been unused as long as anyone remembers. The civic authorities decided to give this land to the three farmers in Hassel. That way tax could be collected for it. One of these farmers was my ancestor. The Kötner was not given a share of the idle land. It says in the document that if in future someone from the Runge family decided to cultivate the land (and pay taxes) they could have their land back. The three farmers of Hassel had to pay 75 Thaler of rent (tax) a year to the king's office in Hannover each. The drawing up of the taxation contract had to be paid for by the four land-owners of Hassel. The contract spreads over 11 pages of handwriting. Four copies were made. One copy had to be shared by the four owners, the second copy was sent to the royal office in Hannover, the third copy was for the administrative office in Siedenburg and the fourth copy was for the administrative office in Ehrenburg. (F16)
Johann Hinrich Christian Meyer could read and write. His signature appears at the end of the above-mentioned document. (F16)
The current address of 'farm No. 3' in Hassel is Hassel 3, 27232 Sulingen. The owner in 1997 was Mrs. Lisa Sudmann. She corresponds with me.

Marriage:
He married the single Anne Marie Sophie Ohlhoff on the 4th of May 1821 in the Lutheran church in Sulingen. (F1)
They raised a family in Hassel. (F1)

Death:
He died of consumption on the 4th of May 1847 in Sulingen. He was 55 years old. He was buried three days later in the cemetery there. (F1)
