Obituary Dorothy (Von Soosten) Knopp The Morning Sun, Pittsburg, Crawford County, Kansas GIRARD - Dorothy (Von Soosten) Knopp, 86, of rural Girard, passed awayat 3:40 P.M., Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at the Sunset Manor inFrontenac, Kansas. She was born January 6, 1923 in independence, Kansas to George andKatrina (Klintworth) Von Soosten, and grew up near Brazilton, Kansas. On April 6, 1947, she was united in marriage to Clifford Knopp. Thecouple made their home on the Knopp family farm near Brazilton untilshe entered Sunset Manor in 2006. Dorothy was a confirmed member of Immanuel Lutheran Church nearHepler, Kansas. She was active in the Lutheran Women’s MissionaryLeague and was an active leader in 4-H clubs and county extensionprograms. She was an active homemaker and enjoyed baking, sewing,square dancing, gardening and quilting. She is survived by her husband, Clifford; her son, Delbert and JanKnopp of Edmond, Oklahoma and their children, Mike and Tempe Knopp ofOklahoma City, and Holly and Mike Moreno of Rowlett, Texas; hergrandson, Jason and Rhonda Knopp of Olathe, Kansas; her granddaughter,Kristy and Andrew Hodge of Vernon, Connecticut; her daughter, Janiceand Curt Katterhenry of Lenexa, Kansas, and their children Chris,Angie, and Brooke; her son, Kelly and Kris Knopp of Sugarland, Texas,and their children Ryan and Aaron, and six great-grandchildren. Sheis also survived by two brothers, Cletus Von Soosten of Topeka,Kansas, and Edgar Von Soosten of Girard. She was preceded in death byher son and daughter-in-law, John and Kathy Knopp, and by her sisters,Willhemina Bennefeld and Erna Busby. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday at the ImmanuelLutheran Church with Pastor John Stubenrouch officiating. Burial willfollow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Hepler. The family willreceive friends from 6 until 8:00 P.M., Friday at theSmith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard where friends may call after1:00 P.M., Friday. Memorials are suggested to the Immanuel Lutheran Church and these maybe left at the church or the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St.John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
