Obituary Published in the Albuquerque Journal, November 9, 2003 COHRS -- Mary Cohrs was born March 24, 1921, in Alticane,Saskatchewan, Canada. Her parents, Andrew Gulgan and AnastaziaWilikij, were Ukranian immigrants who entered the United Statesthrough Ellis Island, New York, about 1917. Mary was the youngest ofthree children and is preceded in death by her sister, Anne Morris, ofWindsor, Ontario, Canada. She is survived by her daughter, BeverlyRusk; her granddaughters, Dr. Regine Rusk Fortunov of Houston, TX andMelanie Rusk, of Dallas, TX; her sister, Kay Brietzke of Alberta,Canada; and her niece, Rose Ann Frood of Avon Park, FL. Mary wasmarried on January 27, 1947, to Raymond Cohrs, a chemical engineer,educated at Queens University in Ontario, Canada. They lived inHalifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, until moving to the United States andeventually settling for 30 years in Albuquerque, New Mexico, whereRaymond worked for Sandia National Laboratories. After Raymond Cohrsdied in 1990, Mary moved to Midland, Texas, to be near her only child,Beverly Rusk, wife of Dr. Larry Rusk and to continue her business inreal estate investment. Mary died at home on Wednesday, November 5,2003, from a recurrence of pancreatic cancer, after survivingtreatment two and a half years previous. The funeral will be held onSaturday, November 8, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. at Gate of Heaven Mausoleumin Albuquerque.
