Obituary published in the Enid News, April 14, 2007 BETTY MCNETT The funeral for Betty McNett, 83, of Alva will be 2 p.m. Monday atTown and Country Christian Church. Paul Cole, pastor, will officiate.Burial will be in Alva Municipal Cemetery. Arrange-ments are byWharton Funeral Chapel, Alva. She was born Aug. 24, 1923, in Dacoma, to Susie Elizabeth Powell andRalph Wayne Hubbard and died Thursday, April 12, 2007, at her home. She attended Dacoma school system and graduated from Jet High Schoolin 1941. She attended Northwestern State College. She worked for theFederal Bureau of Investigation in Washington D.C., during World WarII then for the adjutant general at Camp Chaffee, Ark. She married Chester Elisha McNett May 20, 1945, in Jet. He died Nov.15, 1992. They lived in Fort Smith, Ark. They moved to Carmen in 1946,where they farmed and she taught school. In 1950, they went toWichita, Kan., then to Helena in 1960, and to Cherokee in 1961, whereshe became the administrator at Masonic Hospital. In 1975, they movedto Alva, and she was business manager at the Review-Courier. She was amember of Alva First United Methodist Church, Alva Order of theEastern Star and Women of the Moose. Surviving are her daughter, Marcy Engelken of Alva; one granddaughter;and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother.
