Notes for this person

He met Kay when he lived in Kimberley. His father worked as a steamroller driver at one stage. There is a record in one of the archives which includes his address. He lived in Molteno when Kingsley was born. At some stage he lived in Springs where he took a job as a bus driver. Apparently, the schoolchildren loved him. He also lived in Ramsgate were they had a smallholding on which they reared prize-winning goats. Here he and Kay helped a soldier to rehabilitate after the second World War. I have a table made by thesoldier as a thank you gift. Offcuts from the local saw-mill and boot polish made a unique small table. While in Port Shepstone he was involved with building of the bridge across the river mouth after the 1959 major flood washed away the rail / road bridge further up the river near the sugar mill. Later he was a very dedicated caretaker of the Uvongo Country Club where he enjoyed many wonderful hours with his grandchildren. Thereafter, he lived on the Lilicrona estate where he and Kay took care of the kennels. They had a special love for Poodles. They also managed vegetable gardens and sold the produce at the local market. After moving to Parys, he took ill. He was a loving man and among his skills, he was an excellent and creative carpenter.
