Elver I. "Albus" (der Weiße) von Horhusen ist der älteste bekannte vertreter der Familie. Er wurde 1081-1106 erwähnt war Stadtgraf des um 900 durch König Ludwig das Kind zum Marktsiedlungmit Münz- und Zollrechten erhobenen Dorfes (villa) Horhusen, dem heutigen Niedermarsberg. Seien Frau Gertrud starb vor 1123.
