Highland News Leader, Thursday 5 Aug 2004: Todd J. Baer, 34, ofHighland died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Anderson Hospital inMaryville. The funeral service was Tuesday at St. Paul Catholic Church withFather David L. Peters presiding. Burial was in Keystone Cemetery inSt. Jacob. Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home was in charge of thearrangements. Mr. Baer was born July 20, 1970, in Highland to James G. "Jim" andLinda L. (Hirsch) Baer. They survive in Highland. He grew up in Highland and was a 1988 graduate of Highland `HighSchool. He served with the U.S. Air Force with a tour of duty inGermany. He lived near Kansas City, Mo., for about two years. He hadbeen the assistant manager for Quick Trip at West Florissant, Mo., andon July 26 had been transferred to the Edwardsville Quik Trip. Heenjoyed NASCAR, fishing, camping and spending time with his childrenand family. Other survivors include six children, Deana Marie and Jeffrey ScottBaer of Troy; Tyler James, McKinzie Lynn and Haley Elizabeth Rivas ofIndependence, Mo., and Scott R. Voyles of Wayne City, Ill.; a brother,Jared L. (Staci) Baer of Alhambra; paternal grandparents Charles F.(Florence) Baer of Marine and Louise B. (Schomaker) Buehler ofHighland; maternal grandfather, Dale N. Hirsch of St. Jacob; paternalaunts, Patricia (Steven) May of St. Jacob, Victoria (Tim) Eagen ofForest Lake, Minn., Geralyn (Scott) Kaufman and JoAnn (Jeff) Shermanof Highland and Diane Baer of Forest Lake, Minn.; maternal aunt Joni(Michael) Johnston of Highland; maternal uncle, Tim (Gina) Hirsch ofHighland; paternal uncles, Glenn (Martha) Baer of St. Louis andWilliam (Marla) Baer of Highland; nephew Brandon T. Baer of Alhambra;beloved friend, Krise A. Deschepper of Highland and former wife, JillRider Baer of Troy. He was preceded in death by maternal grandmother Helen L. (Koehler)Hirsch, who died June 12, 2003. Memorials may be made to a fund for Mr. Baer's children.
