Notizen zu dieser Person

W Eye says that this NICHOLAS arrived in Phila in 1738. JEFF CARR says that this is the wrong person. He bases this on the fact that the 1738 NICHOLAS' wife was MARIA MARGARET and that the NICHOLAS of Pendleton Co, VA had a wife ANNA MARGARET.

W EYE gives other sons & daughters to NICHOLAS: # 886 MARY, # 887 CATHERINE, #888 FRANCES & # 891 SUSAN. I have found no other verification and in 3 of 4 cases they would have been very old when married or NICHOLAS would have had them at a very old age. EYE gives as possible father, # 4955 NICHOLAS.

1738- A NICHOLAS SIMON leaves Pfeffelbach for America. Also leaving was the widow of PETER PONTIUS. /BURGERT, THE WESTERN PALATINATE from ZWEIBRUCKEN MANUMISSIONS PROTOCOLL-LICHTEMBERG, 1738 & E88,rev, which quotes Dr Raymond Bell: HANS NICKOLL SIMON was probably the younger brother of the widow of PETER PONTIUS who came on the ship with HANS NICKOLL. The names of women were not given on this passenger list, but she probably came with her children, including JOHANIS PETER PONTIUS since they all appear later in the Tulpehocken area. Dr Bell speculates that the NICHOLAS SIMON, age 63, who arrived on the ship "SAMUEL" on Aug 27, 1739 at Phila is possibly the father of HANS NICKOLL and the widow of PETER PONTIUS.

9 Sep 1738- HANS NICKELL SIMON, age 31, arrived at Phila on ship "GLASGOW", CAPT WALTER STERLING from Cowles & Rotterdam, he was a Palatine. /PA GERMAN PIONEERS204, Burgert, THE WESTERN PALATINATE304

1735-1755 -Listed as member of German Reformed Church, Berks, PA . There was also a JACOB SIMON & JACOB SIEFERT. /RUPP

A second NICHOLAS SIMON arrived at Phila on Oct 9, 1749 on the ship "LYDIA", Capt JOHN RANDOLPH from Cowes and Rotterdam. There were 154 from Wirtenberg, Dourlach, Zweybrecht and Palatinate. It is interesting to note that a HANS PETER SCHMIT arrived on the same ship and that a PETER SMITH was granted 65 acres next to NICHOLAS SIMON on the South Fork, Augusta Co in 1771. /PG
