Martin H. Bode, 83, of 410 6th Street, Nicollet died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999 at the Grandview Good Samaritan Center in St. Peter.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet with burial in the church cemetery in Nicollet township, Nicollet County. Full military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the American Legion Post
510 of Nicollet.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Bode of Nicollet; sisters and brothers-in-law, Viola Enter of New London, Wis., Edith and Ed Pettengell of Jerseyville, Ill., Esther Enter of Nicollet, Ardella Bruns of Mankato, and Lillian and Joel Gerlach of
Milwaukee, Wis.; sisters-in-law, Violet Bode of Nicollet, Glenda Bode of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alfred, Elden, Rueben, Raymond and Elmer Bode; and a sister,
Gertrude Stolt.

He was born Jan. 12, 1916 in Nicollet Township, Nicollet County to Martin and Emilie (Dueball) Bode. He attended country school for one year and then attended Trinity Lutheran School for six years and later took business courses at Mankato
Community College. He then worked at the Courtland State Bank for six years and then was Deputy County Auditor in St. Peter from Jan. 1, 1939 to May 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy from May 25, 1942 to Dec. 13, 1945. While in the service he
was on the Atlantic Special Convoy Duty. After the service he returned to the Nicollet State Bank in Nicollet and retired as the CEO in 1981. He married Myrtle Hansen on Sept. 1, 1949 at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Parsonage in Nicollet.
He had served for 15 years as a member of the Nicollet Public School Board. He was a member of the American Legion Post 510 of Nicollet. He was a life long member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet and was past treasurer of the
building committees at church
