Alern Bendix, Sr. , 86, of rural Courtland, died Saturday, April 19, 2003 at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center in Winthrop.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Courtland with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 until 8:30 a.m., Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue on Wednesday for one hour prior to the time of service at the church.
Alern is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Gladys and Gail Mayer of New Ulm; Evie and Curt Sorensen of Paynesville, sons and daughters-in-law, Alern "Butch" Jr. and Jean Bendix of New Ulm, Berton and Sherry Bendix of Courtland; nine
grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Jolene and Herb Laabs of New Ulm; and sisters-in-law Agatha Bendix of Belle Plaine and Verona Bode of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Bendix in 1997, parents, Herman and Elsa Bendix, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Herman and Elsie Bode; sisters and brothers-in-law, Verneeda and Fred Bruns and Delrose and Edmond Bode; a brother,
Herman Bendix; brothers-in-law, Edwin Bode and Elmer Bode; and sisters-in-law, Valeria Bode and Agnes Bode.
Alern Bendix, the son of Herman and Elsa (Seemann) Bendix was born on December 20, 1916, in Courtland Township, Nicollet County. He married Edna Bode on October 11, 1940, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Courtland. After marriage they
farmed in Courtland Township and retired in 1978 but continued to live on the farm. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Courtland.
