Sylvia Mae Bode, 68, of Temple City, Calif., and formerly of Nicollet died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, at the Arcadia Methodist Hospital in Arcadia, California.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Courtland with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation begins at 9 a.m. Saturday until time of the service at the church.
Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Marjorie and Richard Holder of Whittier, Calif., Eileen and Delbert Dallmann of New Ulm, and Floren and Robert Gaffaney of Minnetonka; brother and sister-in-law, David A. and Ann Bode of
Nicollet; eight nieces and nephews; and five great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Frederick Bode.
She was born Sept. 8, 1932, in Nicollet Township, Nicollet County, to Alfred W. and Esther (Compart) Bode. She attended grade school in Nicollet and the Immanuel Lutheran school in rural Courtland. She graduated from Nicollet High School in
1950. She graduated from the Bethany College in Mankato in 1952. She received a master's degree from Mankato State College. She taught in the parochial school system for the past 45 years. She taught in Watertown, Lakefield, Faribault, and
Central Lutheran School in St. Paul. In 1986 she taught for two years at Blythe, Calif., and then at Monrovia, California, where she was also principal.
