Elmer Bode, 83, of 923 N. German St. in New Ulm, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at the Lake Crystal Health Care Center in Lake Crystal.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm, with burial in the Zion Eden Cemetery in Eden Township, Brown County.
Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. today and from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm, and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Thursday.
Elmer is survived by his daughters, Ellen Mueller and her husband Michael of St. Paul, and Betsy Domeier Stanton and her husband Curt of Mankato; son Warren Bode of New Ulm; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents;
first wife Valeria E. Bode; second wife Agnes T. Bode; sister Edna Bendix; and brother Edwin Bode.
Elmer was born on May 19, 1919, in Courtland, to Herman and Elsie (Unverworn) Bode. He married Valeria E. Schroeder on Jan. 17, 1945, in Eden Township, Brown County. After Valeria's death, he married Agnes Schwartz Stringham on May 7, 1965, in
New Ulm. He had farmed in Eden Township and later worked for Bosshart Construction and then worked as a porter and maintenance man at the Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm. He was a resident of the Lake Crystal Health Care Center since Jan.
22, 2003. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
The family prefers memorials be given to donors choice in lieu of flowers.
