| Nach dem Tod seines Bruders Heinrich III. von Löwen im Jahre 1095 wurde er zum Graf von Löwen-Brüssel und Landgraf von Brabant ernannt. 1106wurden ihm auch die Titel des Herzog von Nieder Gottfried VI. heiratete Ida (? 1117), die Tochter Alberts III. von Namen und vermählte sich nach deren Tod neu mit Clementia, der Tochter Wilhelms II. von Burgund. Am 25. Januar 1139 starb er und wurde in der Benediktinerabtei von Affligem beerdigt. Sein Nachfolger war Gottfried VII. von Niederlothringen, ein Sohn aus seiner ersten Ehe. | |
