Baptized Maulden, Bedfordshire, 8 Nov 1601, son of Edmund Bressey. Linen draper from London who came to Massachusetts Bay in 1634. First settled in Ipswich MA; moved to Newport RI in 1640 & New Haven CT in 1647. Died by 1649, based on remarriage of his widow. Married (1) in London, 30 Jan 1626/7 [license], Hannah Hart ("Thomas Bracy of the parish of St. Michael the querne, linendraper and a bachelor, aged about 24 years ... with Hanna Hart of the parish od Christchurch, maiden, aged about 18 years, the daughter-in-law of John Abbot of the same parish, linendraper ... to be married in the parish church of Christchurch London." She died within a few years. (2) at St. Lawrence Jewry, London, 4 Aug 1631, Phebe Bisby, daughter of William Bisby. They had five children: Phebe Dickinson Rose Hale, Constance Morey, Thomas, John, Hannah Paine. She married (2) prior to 12 Feb 1649[/50?] Samuel Martin (when her father wrote his will). Phebe was living 6 Dec 1683 when she was appointed administratrix & sole beneficiary of her late husband Martin's estate. Source: Great Migration Study Project
