Majorie June OHDE

KEYSTONE: Marjorie J. Ohde Werning, age 76, died Saturday evening, May 20, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Van Horne with Rev. David Lindenberg officiating. Interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery in Keystone. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Keystone from 5 to 7 PM on Monday. A Memorial Fund has been established for Friends Of The Van Horne Library and St. Andrew Lutheran Church. Marjorie was born June 12, 1929 near Keystone to John and Laura (Bockholt) Ohde and graduated from the Keystone High School. She attended the University of Iowa for two years and was employed at Rockwell Collins for twenty-five years prior to retiring in 1991. Marjorie was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Van Horne. She was a past President of Van Horne Senior Citizens and the Van Horne Library Board, and served as secretary of Future Green. In her leisure she enjoyed playing cards and traveling on cruise ships to Alaska, England, Mexico, Greece and the Panama Canal. She is survived by her daughter, Mary (River) Phipps of Boone; her grandsons, Chad Martin, and David (Joyce) Higgins of Bondurant; her step-granddaughter, Kellie (Ben) Hull of Boone; six great grand-children; her brothers Willard (Mildred) Ohde and Keith (Lavonne) Ohde all of Keystone; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Randal John Martin, and her brother, Wayne Ohde.
