Ernst Kolb wohnte mit seiner familie in Dahlhausen, luth. Kirche Leuscheid,Regierungsbezirk Köln
heute : Gemeinde Herchen, Nordrhein-Westfalen
Der Schwager Henry Reider war schon in Texas und hat vermutlich einen Brief in die Heimat geschrieben.
Die Familie Kolb wollte schon im Herbst 1849 auswandern, aber sie bekamen nicht genug Geld von ihren Gläubigern
zusammen. Sie verließen mit Cousin Wilhelm Kolb aus Ehrenthalsmühl und Familie das Land auf dem Schiff "ISIS" von Rotterdam, Niederlande, nach New Orleans Nov. 1850
Siedelten in Union Springs, nahe den Helpenstells, die sie wohl unterwegs trafen.
Später ab 1866 wohnten sie nahe August Tubbe und Mary im Süden von Nac. County beim späteren Saints Rest Cemetery.
