Lydia A., widow of Samuel Stutsman, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. N. A. (Minnie) Enders, No. 512 Tenth street, Elkhart, Ind., at 8:45 a.m. Sunday (Feb. 12, 1905), of paralysis due to old age, she having reached her seventy-sixth birthday on January 5. Mrs. Stutsman had been a resident of Elkhart and vicinity for 60 years, and was long a faithful member of the German Baptist church. She is survived by the following children, in addition to Mrs. Enders: Edward C. Stutsman, of near Bristol, Ind., and Mrs. Homer (Mary) Stuckey, of Englewood, Ill. Samuel Cope of Des Moines, Ia., is a brother, and there are 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Stutsman had been a widow for 32 years, her husband dying of blood poisoning which resulted from the bite of a calf. They had settled on Pine Creek, six miles east of Elkhart. Mrs. Stutsman was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Caleb Cope, and was born near Lagro, Ind. Mr. and Mrs. Stutsman's marriage took place Dec.18, 1845, and ten children were born. Two were sons. The funeral will take place Wednesday, leaving the house at 11:30 for the German Baptist church on South Sixth street, where Rev. Felthouse will conduct a service. Another short service will be held at Pine Creek church at 3 p.m. before interment in the cemetery there.
