Amos Singletary represented the town of Sutton, Worcester County Mass. in the second Provincial Congress which convened at Cambridge, Feb 1,1775 and dissolved May 29, 1775 He represented the same town in the third Provincial Congress which convened at Watertown, May 31, 1775 and dissolved July 19, 1775 He was one of the representatives chosen to represent the Town of Sutton Mass in the Great and General Court of 1777 and was the sole representative of said town there in 1778-1779-1780 and 1781. Amos Singletary Corp. Dec. 30, 1721 Oct. 30, 1806 married , Mary Curtis of Topsfield An anti-federalist in North Carolina wrote: “The exclusion of religious tests is by many thought dangerous and impolitic. Pagans, Deists and Mohammedans might obtain office among us.” Amos Singletary of Massachusetts, one of the most outspoken critics of the Constitution, said that he hoped to see Christians (in power), yet by the Constitution, a papist or an infidel was as eligible as they. COUNTY BRIDGE CEMETERY Few people know this cemetery by its intended name. This small cemetery is behind Goretti's Market on the corner of Providence Street and Riverlin Street. This quiet cemetery has kept a vigil to much of Millbury's past. The first white child born in what is now known as Millbury - Amos Singletary - rests here. Also, one of the famous Minutemen in Boston's history - Captain Issac Bolster - is buried in this quiet cemetery.
