Maria Keup was on the manifest with Ferdinand Keup of the Marco Polo that arrived in New York City on 26 May 1874 when she wasy 44 years of age. DEATH OF MRS. KEIP Mrs. Ferdinand Keip, an old resident of this section, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Boetcher in the town of Sigel on Saturday, after an illness of some length, death being due to old age. Deceased was born in Germany 91 years ago, but has been a resident of this country for more than fifty years and during much of that time has lived in the town of Sigel. The surviving children are August Keip of Waukesha, Albert Keip of Fond du Lac, Minnie Keip of Tacoma, Washington, Fred of Beaver Dam, Charles of Arpin and Mrs. Henry Boetcher of Arpin, besides which there are a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The funeral was held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the home, Rev. Gieselman conducting the services. Interment was made in the cemetery at Seneca Corners. --Grand Rapids Tribune; Thursday, February 22, 1917, Grand Rapids, Wisconsin Mrs. Mary Kiep* died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Botcher in Sigel. She was eighty-nine years old and had been ill for some time. The funeral services will be held at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the house and she will be buried at Seneca Corners, Rev. Family Tree of Ferdnant and Kaleene Keup (Keip) (author unknown) Their birth dates are unknown, her maiden name unknown. They were born in Germany, married there and had six children born there before they came to the United States in 1874. They settled in Wood County, Wisconsin. The children attended school there and were married there. Fredrick Keip was 18 years of age when arriving in this country; German was the language spoken at home, when the children started school they could not talk or write English; the teacher did the best she could by sound and spelled the name Keip. So it remained.
