Notes for this person
MADISON-On December 29, 2013, our Mom, Ruth Emma (Keip) Koerner joined our Dad for the rest of their journey together, while surrounded by her loving family. Mom was born in Columbus, Wis., June 19, 1914, the daughter of Emil and Anna (Riedeman) Keip. After her mother´s early death, she helped her father (affectionately called ``Pa´´ by his children and grandkids) raise her younger sisters and brothers. On Feb. 25, 1939, she married the man of her dreams, Harold Koerner. Her four daughters and their families were her pride and joy. Mom was a wonderful cook and her kitchen was always filled with the aromas of something delicious that she was fixing. She made most of the clothes her young daughters wore, from school dresses to prom gowns. She enjoyed her flower gardens and everyone said she had a green thumb and could make any plant grow and blossom. She would often reminisce about her life on the family farm in Columbus. Mom spent many years with the fantastic employees of Chamomile Assisted Living. She then spent her final days in the loving care of the angels at St. Mary´s Care Center, Madison. The staff was the most compassionate, loving angels on earth. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Joann (Ron) Larson, Jeanne (Paul) Tiedeman, Nancy (Harry) Hanson, Judie (Norm) Muth; grandchildren, Steve (Judy) Larson, Jeff (Angi) Larson, Tammy (Brian) Bartels, Wendy (Ray) Andrew, Julie (Dann) Hansen, Dan (Tracy) Tiedeman, Michele (Steve) Slattery and Mark Muth; great- grandchildren, Christi, Katie and Emma Larson, Skylar and Owen Hansen, Trevor Tiedeman, Nathan and Nicole Bartels and Josh and Max Andrew; her brother, John (Elaine) Keip of Columbus; sister-in-law, Carol Keip of Waunakee; three brothers-in-law, Herb (Edith) Koerner of Delavan, Lavern Koerner of Delaven, and Lyle (Pat) Koerner of Hazlhurst; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mom was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; three grandsons, Mike Muth, Randy and David Larson; granddaughter-in-law, Lauren Larson; sisters, Margaret, Dorothy Schoenherr, Esther Bradley, and Beatrice Albertz; dear sister-in-law, Eileen Keip; and brothers, Lawrence, Elmer, Lester, Walter and Rueben Keip. Funeral Services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 with the Rev. Kelli Schmit officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Be not sorrowful that I am gone, and my earthly life is done. Be not sad I passed away, for in you, my children, I live each day. There is a little of me in all of you, in each one I live anew. So you see I´ll never really be gone, as long as there are children to carry on. I´ve had my share of love, sorrow and strife; I have lived a full and fruitful life. So do not mourn, and do not weep, for I have earned this peaceful sleep. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com. Gunderson East Funeral & Cremation Care 5203 Monona Drive (608)221-5420
