Matthias HUBER(HOOVER)

Religion: Mennonit

Matthias was born about 1740 in the Earl Township of Lancaster Co, PA, USA

to Jacob and Anna Huber. He was raised in the Mennonite Faith. He married

Maria? around 1765 and they made their home there. Three of their children

Martin, Christopher, and Jacob were born there.

In 1778 Matthias took the oath of allegiance to the State of Pennsylvania in

Hanover Township, Lancaster Co, PA, USA. In the book Lancaster Co

Deeds, Matthas Hover is named on a list of persons of which the following was

stated:

Lancaster County SS: The within is a just and true account of the

persons names to whom the Oath of Allegiance has been administered

to agreeable to act of General Assembly since my last return was made.

In 1778 a second State Census tallied those against the Revolution. Included o

this second list are Quakers, Mennonites, and others who refused to take oaths,

as well as Tories still in the new nation.

Matthias and his brother Jacob inherited their father's estate to be shared

equally between them. In 1779 Matthias sold his half to his brother.

Shortly after this, Matthias with his sister Magdalene and Brother-in-law

Abraham G. Fellers and their families left Lancaster Co. for the Southland.

They followed the beaten trail through York, Frederick, Harper's Ferry,

Winchester, and up the Vally Pike to Rockingham Co. Virginia. Matthias's son

John was born here about 1780.

Matthias again moved his family to Shenandoah Co. Virginia, where he purchased

232 acres of land on the 26th of September 1782 from the estate of Hugh Divinia

Here their daughters Nancy c.1784, Sarah "Sally" c.1786, and Mary "Polly"

c.1788 was born. On the 4th of November 1784 Matthias and his wife Mary sold

the 232 acres to John Reeser of Maryland.

They stayed in the Shenandoah Valley until about 1790 when Matthias picked up

his family and moved to the Sweetwater Valley of Eastern Tennessee. (This was

the part of North Carolina that became the Southwest Territory of the United

States in 1790. Tennessee did not become a state until 1796.) Their last child

a daughter was born here c.1790/91. They named her Elizabeth and called her

"Betsey".

Matthias finally settled his family in Davidson Co, Tennessee. (The part he

settled in was changed to Rutherford Co. in 1803.) There is an area called

Hoover's Gap that sits in the corner where Rutherfore, Bedford, and Coffee

Countys join together.

Matthias was a land barren and owned several thousands of acres of land.

On August 9, 1793, he purchased 5000 acres from Guilford Dudley in the area

presently known as Rutherford County, Tennessee. At the time of sale, the land

was located in Davidson County.

Though they are sparse, we are lucky to have the following personal memories

that have been passed down through the years on our ancestor, Matthias Hoover.

He was said to have spoken only German all of his life, and He was the first

member of the Huber/Hoover family to embrace a religion other than the Mennonit

faith, when he became a Methodist.

Matthias Hoover died in October 1824, and his will was probated on the 20th of

October 1824. The court order is as follows.

Order for the Division of the Lands o Matthias Hoover, deceased....

State of Tennessee, Rutherford County court, October Term, 1824:

On motion and petition it is ordered by the court that Joel Smith,

Jacob Fox, John Rawlings, Robert Rayburn, and Stephen White, be

and are hereby appointed, commissioners to divide into seven equal

shares, and to allot to each of the following heirs and descendants

and heirs of the loin of Matthias Hoover, deceased, and seized and

possessed to within, one tract containing seven hundred acres and

upwards bing the balance unsold of a tract of eleven hundred and

seventy six acres conveyed to him by William B. Anderson by deed

bearing the date of April 24, 1812. Being the place where John Glaze

and other now live, also one tract where said Matthias lived in his

lifetime, containing one hundred and sixtyfive to seventy five acres.

One other tract of about one hundred and eighty five acres being the

place where Lewis Rue formerly lived and also one other tract of one

hundred sixty seven acres, part of a five thousand acre survey which

ajoins John B. Pruett on the north and Martin Hoover on the South.

The division so to be made as to give one seventh part to Christopher

Hoover. One seventh part to Jacob Hoover. One seventh part to John

Hoover. One seventh part to John Pruitt in right of his wife Polly

Pruitt, who is a daughter and heir of said Matthias, deceased. One

seventh part to Joseph Ellison (Allison) in right of his wife Betsy

Ellison, who is a daughter and heir of said Matthias, deceased. One

seventh part to William Rawlings in right of his wife Sally Rawlings,

who is a daughter and heir of said Matthias, decease. And one seventh

part to the children and heirs of John Glaze and Nancy his wife, now

deceased, who was a daughter and heir of said Matthias, deceased.

The seventh part last mentioned is to be divided amongst the following

children and heirs of said John and Nancy Glaze, to wit, Thomas Woods

in right of his wife Polly, and William, Betsy, Anne, Matthias,

Lawrence, Henry, John, Sally, Martin, Ira, Ruben, Nancy and

Christopher Glaze. The said commissioners to make a lawful report to

next court returning a plat of the division as made by them.

Matthias wurde ungefähr 1740 in der Township Earl of Lancaster Co. Pennsylvania geboren

Im Jahr 1778 eine zweite staatliche Volkszählung ausgezählt diejenigen, gegen die Revolution. Inklusive o

dieser zweiten Liste sind Quäker, Mennoniten und andere, die einen Eid zu verweigert, sowie Tories noch in der neuen Nation.

Matthias und sein Bruder Jacob erbte ihres Vaters Nachlass geteilt werden

zu gleichen Teilen. Im Jahre 1779 Matthias verkaufte seine Hälfte an seinen Bruder.

Kurz nach diesem, Matthias mit seiner Schwester Magdalena und Brother-in-law

Abraham G. Fellers und ihre Familien verlassen Lancaster Co. für die Southland.

Sie folgten den ausgetretenen Pfad durch York, Frederick, Harpers Ferry,

Winchester, und die Vally Pike auf Rockingham Co, Virginia. Matthias Sohn

John wurde hier um 1780 geboren.

Matthias wieder zog seine Familie nach Shenandoah Co, Virginia, wo er gekauft

Matthias abschließend geklärt seiner Familie in Davidson Co, Tennessee. (Die Rolle, die er ließ sich in wurde Rutherford Co im Jahre 1803 geändert.) Es gibt einen Bereich namens Hoovers Gap, die in der Ecke, wo Rutherfore, Bedford sitzt und Kaffee Countys miteinander zu verbinden.

Matthias war ein Land unfruchtbar und besaß mehrere tausend Hektar Land.

Am 9. August 1793, kaufte er 5000 Hektar von Guilford Dudley in der Region

derzeit als Rutherford County, Tennessee bekannt. Zum Zeitpunkt des Verkaufs, das Land wurde in Davidson County.

Obwohl sie spärlich sind, sind wir glücklich, die folgenden persönlichen Erinnerungen haben, dass wurden im Laufe der Jahre auf unsere Vorfahren, Matthias Hoover weitergegeben.

Er soll gesagt nur deutsche sein ganzes Leben lang, und er war der erste

Mitglied der Huber / Hoover-Familie zu umarmen eine andere Religion als den Mennonit

Glaube, wenn er ein Methodist wurde.

Matthias Hoover starb im Oktober 1824, und sein Wille war am 20. notariell

Oktober 1824. Die gerichtliche Anordnung ist wie folgt.

Auftrag für die Division des Lands o Matthias Hoover, verstorben ....

State of Tennessee, Rutherford County Gericht, Oktober Term, 1824:

Auf Bewegung und Petition ist es durch das Gericht ordnete an, dass Joel Smith,

Jacob Fox, John Rawlings, Robert Rayburn, und Stephen White, werden

und werden ernannt, Beauftragte in sieben gleichen teilen

Aktien und zuzuteilen, um jede der folgenden Erben und Nachkommen

und Erben der Lende von Matthias Hoover, Verstorbenen und beschlagnahmt und

besaß, innerhalb, eines Traktes mit 700 Hektar und

nach oben bing das Gleichgewicht unverkauften einer Fläche von elf hundert und

76 Hektar gefördert, die ihm von William B. Anderson von Tat

mit dem Datum des 24. April 1812. Als Ort, wo Johannes Glaze

und andere leben, auch eine Darm-Trakt, wo Matthias lebte in seinem sagte

Lebensdauer, mit hundert und sixtyfive auf 75 Hektar.

Ein weiterer Trakt von etwa 185 Hektar wird die

Ort, wo Lewis Rue früher lebte und auch einen anderen Trakt von einem

hundertsechzig sieben Hektar, ein Teil eines fünftausend Hektar großen Umfrage, die

ajoins John B. Pruett im Norden und Martin Hoover auf der Südseite.

Die Aufteilung so vorgenommen, um ein Siebtel Teil Christopher geben

Hoover. Eine siebte Teil an Jacob Hoover. Eine siebte Teil um John

Hoover. Eine siebte Teil von John Pruitt in rechts von seiner Frau Polly

Pruitt, der eine Tochter und Erbin ist, sagte Matthias, verstorben. Ein

siebten Teil zu Joseph Ellison (Allison) in rechts von seiner Frau Betsy

Ellison, der Tochter und Erbin von sich sagte Matthias, verstorben. Ein

siebten Teil zu William Rawlings in rechts von seiner Frau Sally Rawlings,

wer eine Tochter und Erbin, sagte Matthias, Tod. Und ein Siebtel

Teil der Kinder und Erben von John Glaze und seine Frau Nancy, jetzt

Verstorbene, die eine Tochter und Erbin, sagte Matthias, verstorben.

Der siebte Teil letztgenannten ist es, unter den folgenden aufgeteilt werden

Kinder und Erben, sagte John und Nancy Glaze, nämlich Thomas Woods

in Recht seiner Frau Polly und William, Betsy, Anne, Matthias,

Lawrence, Henry, John, Sally Martin, Ira, Ruben, Nancy und

Christopher Glaze. Das sagte Kommissare zu einer rechtmäßigen Bericht zu machen nächste Gericht wieder eine Plattform der Division machte von ihnen.
