VICTOR MAKOBEN
Victor Makoben, 92, of Wlcott died December 5 at the Davenport Luter
an Home. Services were Dec. 7 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport.
Pallbearers were Curt Gehrls, Bryan Hoon, Brent Hoon, Rick Makoben, J
oe Rekemeyer, Mike Rekemeyer, Dan Rekemeyer and Jon Hillman. Honorarypal
lbearers were Cheryl Hill, Colleen Russell, DeAnn McAnich, Jennifer Nage
l, Stacy Makoben, Angel Josten and Corrine Gehrls. Burial was in Davenpo
rtMemorial Park Cemetery.

Victor Makoben was born Jan. 7, 1910 in Scott County. He was unit
ed in marriage to Elna Helkenn in 1933 in Davenport; she died in 196
- He later married Adeline Rekemeyer in 1969 in Davenport.
He had farmed in the Scott County area for 60 years, retiringin 1980.
Mr. Makoben enjoyed playing cards and going to the senior citizen cl
ub in Walcott. He was a former member of the Davenport Moose.
Survivors include his wife Adeline; daughters Lavonne (Mrs. Don) Gehr
ls of Bartonville, Ill., and Luetta (Mrs. Bob) Hoon of Davenport; and o
ne son Leon (wife Linda) Makoben of Stockton; stepsons LaMoine (wife Shirl
ene) Rekemeyer of Davenport, Dr. Ross (wife Phyllis) Rekemeyer of Albia; s
tepdaughter Sue (Mrs. Louis Hillman of Wheatland; 15 grandchildren, 20 gre
at-grandchildren; and one sister Vernetta Woods of Durant.
