MINNIE LIVED TO NEARLY 98 YEARS OF AGE. SHE WAS ALERT TO THE END. DEATH WAS BROUGHT ON BY A SUDDEN STROKE WHICH LEFT HER COMATOSE FORABOUT A WEEK. THANK HEAVENS FOR DURABLE POWERS OF ATTORNEY FOR HEALTHCARE. MINNIE DID NOT WANT TO BE KEPT ALIVE WITH A LOT OF TUBES . THEPOA CERTAINLY HELPED THE FAMILY SINCE SHE MADE THE DECISION FOR THEM .SHE AND ELMER LIVED TOGETHER IN THEIR OWN 3 ROOM APARTMENT IN CHICAGOUNTIL MID 1991 WHEN HER CONDITION REQUIRED MORE THAN ELMER, BUD ANDMERIAM COULD DO SO SHE WENT TO THE REGENCY NURSING CENTRE IN NILES.ELMER FOLLOWED A MONTH LATER TO BE WITH HER. HIS HEALTH WAS STILL GOODAT AGE 99 BUT HE MISSED MINNIE SO WE CLOSED THE APARTMENT AND HE JOINEDHER AT REGENCY. AT 99 HE WALKED ABOUT A MILE DAILY. THEY BOTH ADAPTEDTO LIFE AT THE HOME VERY WELL AND MADE MANY FRIENDS THERE.
