Mentioned in a letter to Elizabeth Mary (Lohman) Boeding from her mother, Clara (Holtfoerster) Lohman. John and his wife (no name mentioned) were visiting with their 'nice fat baby' Ida on September 22, 1887. A return visit was made to St. Lawrence, Nebraska by the 'Holtfoerster aunt'.
Two letters from John and his wife Mary to Elizabeth Lohman, one just before her marriage and one afterward are postmarked in Lawrence, Nebraska. The mothers' of John Brockman and Elizabeth Lohman are sisters, Mary and Clara Holtfoerster, thus the 'cousin' reference. Prior to 1998, this connection was not known for certain but some tracing through the Nuckolls County, Nebraska GenWeb site and some contacts with individuals researching the surname Brockman, this relationship was established.
