1. The marriage bond in Clark county, Ky was signed by Stephen Brockman
on 4 Sep 1826.
2. The 1840 Ray county, MO census, page 312, Richmond twp. gives the
following family structure of six children: 200001//12101.
3. If this is my family, then I suspect that Elizabeth died between the
birth of the last child in 1847 and the time of the census.....she was
not listed in the 1850 Ray county census for this family.
4. Other records suggest the death of Elizabeth about 1847-1851;
---Deed, 1 Jul 1840, John and Elizabeth Emerson of Ray county, MO sold
80 acres in the E 1/2 SE 1/4 Sec 3-51-21 to James H. Fitzpatrick of
Mason county, KY for $650.
---Deed, 5 Feb 1851, John Emerson (no wife mentioned) sold horses and a
wagon to settle a $50 debt.
5. This family was not located in the 1860 Ray co., MO census.
6. "John Emerson died of [colora] (have also seen his death attributed to small-
pox) on the overland trail to California in about 1852. Two of his daughters
survived the trip and lived with his brother Henry Emerson until they married.
There is no record of any of John's other children [come] with him on the fatal
journey, but if they did they [parished] on the way." This information is from:
