"Funeral Services for Joseph A. Brown Were Held Today

Joseph A. Brown, 87 years old, died at 8 o'clock Tuesday evening at

the home of his daughter, Mrs. T.D. Alsup in East Camden. He had been

ill about three months.

Mr. Brown was born August 23, 1858 about four miles south of Richmond

and had lived in Ray county all of his life. He was a son of Smith

Brown and Tabitha (Arnold) Brown.

He was married to Isabelle Brockman of near Camden on December 21,

1879 and to this union were born 15 children. Mrs. Brown and eight of

the children preceded him in death.

He was a charter member of the Friendship Christian church.

Survivors include five sons: Jesse Brown of Excelsior Springs, Smith

Brown and Joseph Brown of Camden, William A. Brown of Orrick, Charles

Brown of Kansas City, Kansas; two daughters, Mrs. Tabitha A. Alsup of

Camden and Mrs Jennie Porter of Excelsior Springs; 29 grandchildren,

32 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at the

Friendship Christian church conducted by the Rev. George G. Beasey.

Burial was in the Brockman cemetery. Quest-Life Funeral Home was in

charge of the arrangements."
