Carlyle L. BROCKMAN

burg, SC: "Duncan-- Carlyle L. Brockman, 81, of 421 Silver Lake

Rd., Duncan, SC, died on April 4, 2003 after a long illness. He was

the son of the late B.B. Brockman and Mittie F. Brockman of Spar-

tanburg. A native of Spartanburg county, he was born and lived in

the Reidville area his entire life. He was a retired law enforcement

agent with the S.C. Dept. of Revenue and a former Spartanburg

County policeman and a farmer. He was also a charter member of

the SC Law Enforcement Association. A veteran of WWII, he serv-

ed 4 years in the US Army-Air Corps. He was a lifetime member of

Sharon United Methodist Church and a former trustee and board

member.

Mr. Brockman was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and

great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Bennett

Brockman and was predeceased by his first wife, Loree Page Brock-

man, of Woodruff. He is also survived by a daughter and son-in-law,

Carlene B. and Allen Sheriff, of Duncan, a son and daughter-in-law,

Barry B. and Dr. Mary Ann Brockman, of Lyman, a daughter and

son-in-law, Susan B. and James Hawkins, of Duncan. Three step-

daughters, Dr. Kathy Bennett of Savannah, GA, Aleen B. and Jim

Scott of Rio Rico, Arizona, and Sherry Bridges of Lyman.

Surviving grandchildren are: Ashley B. and Sam Miller, of Roe-

buck, Bryan Sheriff, of Duncan, Mandy H. and Neel Edwards, of

Duncan, Holly Brockman of Simpsonville, Tommy McGrath of

Lyman, Joey Harvey of San Francisco, CA, Jamie Wood of Boone,

NC, Shelby Bridges and Allan Lamb of Lyman. Carlyle was the

proud great grandfather of his great-grandchildren who also survive

him, Clint and Lilly Miller, of Roebuck, and Neel Patrick Edwards of

Duncan.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2003 at

Sharon United Methodist Church in Reidville, conducted by Rever-

end Rance Sprayberry. Interment in Sharon United Methodist

Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately fol-

lowing the services in the church sanctuary.

Pallbearers are Charles Betsill, Johnny Betsill, Ben Betsill, Jeff

Page, Bobby Page, Milton Ivey, Jr., Steve Brockman and Gary

Brockman. Honorary pallbearers will be the Mens Bible Class.

Those who wish may make memorials to the Sharon United Meth-

odist Church Building Fund or to Regional Hospice Caregivers, 120

Heywood Ave., Spartanburg, SC 29302.

The family is at the home.
