- A portion of Furn Owen Brockman's obituary follows: "Furn Owen
Brockman, Jr., a proud member of "The Greatest Generation"
passed away on December 1, 2007, in Plano, Texas. Furn was
born to Furn, Sr. and Gladys (Stearns) Brockman on November 7,
1922, in Kansas City, the oldest of an even dozen children. He
served in the U.S. Army during WWII and then attended his beloved
Kansas University. He was an avid KU fan until the day he died. In
November of 1944 he married the beautiful Bonnie Jean Willard of
Moral, Kansas, his bride of 63 years and the mother of his six
children. Furn's forte was in sales, from pharmaceuticals to Revlon
cosmetics to wheels. Before his retirement he was Director for SFI,
SEMA Foundation, a safety and regulatory agency that set safety
standards for testing for all areas of the racing industry. Furn is
survived by his wife of 63 years, Bonnie, and six children and their
families-----" "A memorial mass will be celebrated at the family's
ancestral parish church of Guardian Angels, 4300 Mercier in Kansas
City on Saturday, December 7, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. The family
requests no flowers, but donations to The American Cancer Society
(American Cancer Society Mosaic of Hope, or to Guardian Angel
Church would greatly be appreciated."
