Rigmor Ella Brookmann Millspaw, a 25 year resident of Baton Rouge, LA died on February 14, 2004. She was a pianist, a music teacher, church organist, and a tax preparer. A Memorial Service will be conducted by the Reverend Dr. Gary Looman and Dr. Ed Carver on Saturday, February 21, 2004, 1:00 a.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Millspaw is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert R. Millspaw, Jr. and Verna; daughter and son-in-law, Lynne Rigmor Barnes and Jamie Jr., and daughter, Jani Adrienne Gage; four grandchildren, Michael Gage, Kristen Lancaster, Christopher Barnes, Jeffrey Barnes; great-grandchild, Landon Gage; sister and brother-in-law, Marguerite and Al Preziosi, sister and brother-in-law, Roberta and Rev. Dr. Gary Looman; brother-in-law, and sister -in-law, Dennis and Janet Millspaw; nieces, Sue Dittmar, Karen Looman, Ann Hunter, Barbara Preziosi, Adele Preziosi; and nephews, Allan Preziosi and Patrick Preziosi. Her husband of 45 years, Dr. Robert R. Millspaw; her parents, Rigmor and Martin Brookmann preceded her in death. Rigmor was born in Manhattan, NY, spent her childhood in Ozone Park, NY and graduated from high school in Cobleskill, NY. She attended Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio where she studied piano performance under Stanley Hummel. She had her piano debut in Carnegie Hall in New York City at the age of 17. She married Robert Millspaw in 1951 and lived in Oneida, NY where he had a dental practice. They moved to Albuquerque in 1963 where Robert continued to practice dentistry until retirement. She was past president of the Albuquerque Dental Women's Auxiliary, a Camp Fire girls leader, president of the PTA, and an elder in La Mesa Presbyterian Church. The family moved to Metairie, LA and then Baton Rouge in 1980, where she was a member of the Faith Presbyterian (formerly the Sherwood Presbyterian Church), and was a founding member of the hand bell choir. She also served as the church treasurer, substitute organist and was a Presbyterian Women's Circle Bible Leader. Rigmor was very proud of her Danish ancestry, and enjoyed baseball. She was an ardent fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers, attending many games at Ebbets Field with her father. She also enjoyed teaching piano students of all ages. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Faith Presbyterian Church Handbell fund.
