Richard Brockman the elder of Whitfield, Kent yeoman
In health, soul to God and body to earth.
To wife Mary an annuity or yearly rent charge of £16
out of all my lands in Whitfield, except three pieces
of land about 13 acres to be sold, equally at four
times in the year with power of distraint, which
annuity was settled on my said wife before marriage by
deed. To wife Mary, she keeping herself unmarried, the
old parlour of my dwelling house, to brew and bake in
the kitchen, my son and executor finding the straw to
brew and bake. Wife to have one half of household
stuff to enjoy during her widowhood, also 100 ashen
faggots yearly during her widowhood to be brought home
by my executor and cut from trees growing on my lands.
Also to her one of my best cows of her own choice to
be kept by my executor winter and summer with his
cattle for 20s a year which she is to pay my executor.
If she remarry to have no benefit of this will except
the annuity.
To John Kingsmill and Margaret his wife my daughter £5
To son Christopher Brockman £40 which with the sixty
pounds I owe him on bond makes 100£.
To son William Brockman £5
To son Richard Brockman 10s.
Executor son Matthew Brockman to have Chalke close 6
acres, Parsonage close 4 acres and Pynam Garden 3
acres to sell to pay debts and legacies. Also to
Matthew rest and residue of real and personal
property.
Friend William Stratford the elder of Dover gentleman
to be overseer and 40s.
