Hello My name is Thomas Robert Melcher (1945 – Present) I am researching my family heritage for specific details regarding my great grandfather William J. Melcher. I have a photograph taken about 1900 of a river pontoon boat in or around New Boston, Ill, that depicts the large boat with passengers, my grandfather Lee W. Melcher on the roof in short pants, and a reference attached to the back stating the builder of the boat as his grandfather standing on the front of the boat, second from right. I now believe the reference to his grandfather as the builder may be actually his uncle on his mothers side, Leander Derick Wade, A known riverboat captain in New Boston at the time. Leander Derick Wade would have been the husband of Myrtle E. (Mirtie) Burlingame (Wade), the sister of Elizabeth C. Burlingame Melcher (my great grandmother). Melcher Time Lines: Thomas R.
