<p>Source of Obit: - Michael Hadl- October 2000 - mw:</p><p>HELEN E. TROYER</p><p> Mrs. Helen Evelyn Troyer, 87, died this morning at The Cedars following a one-month illness. She had lived in McPherson since 1955, moving from Abilene. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Mrs. Troyer was born February 28, 1889 in Geneseo, daughter of Charles W. and Barbara Spidle Loutzenhiser and married Carl William Troyer in April 1909 at Geneseo. He died in 1953. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Emery Barclay, McPherson; one grand-daughter and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will beThursday at 10:30 a.m. at Ball and Son Funeral Home. Rev. Bill Lemons will officiate. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Ball and Son Funeral Home. Interment will be in MemorialPark, Hutchinson.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>HISTORY OF LOUTZENHISER FAMILY BACK TO 1704</p><p>Compiled by Helen Troyer</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>John Loutzenhiser was of Pennsylvania German descent and was a soldier in the war of 1812. He died in Missouri. His son Jacob Loutzenhiser (ourgrandfather) was born in 1819 and reared in Penn. When he was 10 years of age, he moved with his parents to 'Ohio, Hancockcounty. He was married to Arvilla Mc Kinley, a native of the Buckeye state, born in 1829. She was a daughter of William Mc Kinley of Scotch descent, a second cousin of President Mc Kinley. After his marriage, he moved to Logan county, Illinois, locating near Middletown. In 1860, he moved to Mercer county, Missouri. He was a soldier in the Civil war. He was a gallant soldier and his companywas known as the Merrill's Cavalry Company. They were the parents of 8 children. Maude, who died in Trenton, Mo., Arvilla, Grant, Sherman and Francis (died when quite young), Charles Henery, (our father), and David (who is a minister in the Baptist Church), and Helen Hanna. This family has all passed away.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Charles Henry Loutzenhiser was born in Logan county, Illinois. When 12 years old, he came with his parents to Mercer county, Mo. He attended school in Nevada, Ohio, receiving a good education. He was a successful and popular teacher for nine years in Mercer county,Mo. On the 12th of April, 1874, he was united in marriage to Barbara Ellen Spidle. To this union was born ten children, five boys and five girls. Claude Elonzo, Fithen Hartley, Otto Clyde, John Logan, William Henry, Myrtle Mae, Olive Loretta, Helen Evelyn, Mayme Ethel and Ada Ruith. They came to Kansas in October 1878, located or homesteaded on a farm near Kansas Center, Rice county. Two children, Claude and Fithen were born in Missouri, Mercer county. Eight were born in Kansas, Rice County. (Handwritten in at this point- "This family has all passed away" )</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>HISTORY OF THE SPIDLE FAMILY</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>David Spidle was born Nov. 19, 1829. Margaret Palmer Spidle was born Feb. 8, 1829. They were both born in Ohio and married there. They were the parents of nine children, five boys and four girls. Names, William, Anthony, John, Matthew, Jim, Sarah, Barbara and Rachel and Lou. Four children were born in Ohio, Sarah, Barbara, William and Anthony. William diedin Ohio when very small baby. In 1859, they moved to Missouri, Mercer county. Then John, Rachel, (Matthew died when small baby) Jim and Lou were born. The family have all passed away. Carl and Helen took Mother to see Aunt Sarah at Maryville, Mo., and Uncle Jim Spidle at Garden Grove, Iowa in October 1939. Uncle John passed away in 1901. Uncle Jim passed away in Apri l 1942. Aunt Sarah passed away in October 1942. Barbara passed away in January 1947.
