George edgar Meriwether wrote me and said this about James Bradley Sr. quote: James Bradley was born in mongomery County, Alabama January 12, 1806 and died August 29 1877. He grew cotton at Mattews, Alabama. In 1851 James Bradley Meriwether

sent a bale of cotton to the worlds fair in London, England. The bale of cotton was judged and recieved a grand Prize in its catagory. James Bradley Meriwether was awarded a bronze medal and a silver pitcher and twelve silver goblets.Queen

Victoria made the presentation.

 

James Bradley Meriwether married Lucy Ann Sophia Taliaferro. They had eleven children. The first was James Bradley Meriwether Jr. born in Montgomery Co., Al.april 16, 1839 and died apr 17 1914. unquote
