Kay was born Nov. 10, 1929 to William and Nina Harms (nee VanDerHyde) in Rice Lake, Wis. She moved with her mother and siblings to Spokane, Wash., in 1945. She married Kenneth "Duck" Yanzick in Kellogg on Aug. 6, 1966. They lived in Pinehurst and Coeur d'Alene before moving to Chattaroy, Wash. She worked in Spokane as a bookkeeper/manager for Time Oil Company for many years. After retiring from Time Oil, she studied horticulture at Spokane Community College. Together with Duck, she owned and operated Kay's Greenhouse in Chatteroy, which she continued to operate until illness forced her to quit last year. She was passionate about flowers, babies, pets, taking snapshots and hosting parties. She especially enjoyed making costumes and using them at every opportunity. The little spare time she had was often filled with playing slot machines, where she usually was a winner. She is survived by her husband, Duck; her children (from a previous marriage) Lyndia Horwath of Spokane, Wash., Penny Bratton of Medimont, and Joey Bascetta III of San Francisco, Calif.; siblings Annette Lundquist and Bill Harms, both of Spokane, Florence Eberle of Selah, Wash., and Janice Yancy of Clayton, Wash.; five grandchildren Paula Dancy and husband Keith, Byron Bratton and wife Tina, Jennifer Chan and Namgo Chan, Brandee Frizzell and husband Gary, and Ben Horwath; great-grandchildren Taylor, Andy and Emma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memoriam to Valley Vista Care Center, 820 Elm Street, St Maries, ID 83861. The Katheryn Yanzick Memorial Fund has been established for the future purchase of a blanket warmer for Valley Vista Care Center that will radiate her warmth tomany for years to come. Her last party will be a gathering of family and friends celebrating her life. Join us on Friday, Jan. 11, 2008 between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. At Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines Road, Spokane Valley, Wash. Kay Yanzick was known by many and loved by all. She will be greatly missed. Hodge Funeral Home, St. Maries is entrusted with local arrangements.
