Louis de Brienne (1230 - 1285) 1 , also known as Louis d'Acre or Louis de Beaumont-Brienne , is viscount of Beaumont, Fresnay and Sainte-Suzanne. He is the third son of Jean de Brienne , King of Jerusalem and later Latin Emperor of Constantinople , and his third wife Berengere of León . Biography He is sent to France by his father with his two brothers Alphonse and Jean, "still children, praying the King of France Louis, and his pious mother Queen Blanche, of which they were great-grand-son (sic), to deign the to look upon them and receive them as their clients. The King Saint Louis, receiving them with honor and kindness, gave them great affection, and raised their fortune very high. His descendants will inherit the title and bear the name of Beaumont. Louis and his wife Agnes are cited as founders in several charters of St. Hippolytus of Vivoin Priory and the abbeys of Perseigne and Etival-en-Charnie from 1253 to 1285 3 . His death is dated September 14 in the obituary of Etival. 3 Descendancy The known children from her marriage with Agnès de Beaumont are: Jean († 1306), viscount of Beaumont; ; Louis († 1333), bishop of Durham; Marguerite († 1328), married about 1278 to Bohemond VII , count of Tripoli; Marie († 1328/1339), married before 1283 to Henry III of Avaugour , baron of Mayenne; Isabelle († before 1334), married 1279/1280 to John de Vescy, lord of Alnwick; Jeanne († 1323), married about 1286 to Guy VIII of Laval ; Henri de Beaumont († 1340), Constable of England.
