Notes for this person

1880 Illinois soundex indicates his name to be William. Records of Trinity Lutheran Church in Springfield, Illinois, indicate his name to be Wilhelm. His baptismal sponsors were Karl Mauer and Val. Fixmer. Middle initial C. Sources - his mother's death certificate and his brother, Fred's, obituary. On the 1900 Illinois census he is a boarder living with Mordicaied (?) and Daisy M. Carper. On the 1920 Illinois census he is listed as William Lawrence and lives next to or across from his mother and brother. From the 1930 census: William C. Lawrence, his son, Ralph, and his daughter, Anabelle, lived in Cooper Township, Sangamon County. William was 57, married at the age of 37, was a widower on this census, was born in Illinois, both parents from Germany. He was a store merchant. Ralph was 16, born in Illinois. Anabelle was 14 and born in Illinois. Ralph's age, the birthplaces of him and his parents plus his parents were listed on an earlier census as Lawrence make me highly suspect this could be mine. At the time of his brother, Frederick's, death, he was living in Edinburg. He was divorced. He had been a grocer and postmaster. He died of coronary insufficiency due to large retro-peritoneal sarcoma. He was found dead. Source - death certificate.
