Baptized by A. Craemer, vacancy Pastor. Baptismal sponsors were Johann Fixmer and Elizabeth Lorenz. He later converted to Methodism and was a member of Island Grove United Methodist Church in Island Grove, Illinois. In their church history he and his wife's children donated money towards the pews in their memories sometime between 1955 and 1965. Marriage witnesses were ?eula ?roney & Y. C. Croney?. Pastor Abner P. Cobb officiated. A handwritten note is on their license: "consent to said marriage being given of Christ Lorenz father of John Lorenz also Abbie Sandidge mother of Nellie Sandidge." John was a farmer and living in Berry, Illinois. Source - marriage license. In 1900 he was a farmer and living in Chatham Township of Sangamon County. In 1910 his widow had remarried. Her husband was Raymond K. Robertson. He was a farmer and living in Island Grove, Illinois. He died of a gun shot wound at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. Buried in Row 1 of Section 8.
