Meyer, Elsie Marie (Barten) Meyer Elsie Marie Barten Meyer, 94, of Columbus, formerly of Bernardo, passed away May 13 at River Oaks Health Care Center. She was born in Mentz, June 22, 1910 to Herman and Emma (Brune) Barten and married Homer E. Meyer, Dec. 17, 1929. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Homer Ellis and David Barten Meyer. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Betty Lou Meyer of Bernardo; grandchildren, Donna L. Vasut of Columbus and Darry W. and Dustin L. Meyer both of Bernardo; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Linda Aurich of Shaws Bend. Funeral services were conducted May 16 at St. John Episcopal Church in Cat Spring under the direction of Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus. The Rev. Kevin Kaug officiated. Interment followed in Zoar Lutheran Cemetery in Mentz. Pallbearers were Jonathan C. MacBride, Ivan Menke, Dewayne and Derrick Meyer, Colton and Curtis Vasut and Daniel Kautz. Honorary pallbearers were Harold Peschel, John Wendel, Leland Miller, John W. Frnka, J.A. Gabor and Larry Uhlig. - Colorado County Citizen, May 18, 2005, Courtesy of The Citizen
