W.H. ROCKEY DIES EARLY THIS MORNING

Death Took Place Early Monday Morning - Resulted From Injuries Received in Fall

Warren Harvey Rockey, 800 East Van Buren Street, Columbia City, died this morning at 12:15 o’clock at the Linvill Memorial Hospital where he was taken Sunday evening after his condition became critical. Last Friday noon he was seriously injured when he fell from a lumber platform to the ground eight feet below.

He was almost 52 years old and was born near Wolf Lake in Noble county and had resided here for a year and a half, coming here in April 1943, from Churubusco near where he had lived for more than 30 years. He was unmarried. His parents were David and Susan Goodyear Rockey, deceased.

Mr Rockey was yard man at the Columbia City Hardwood Lumber Co.

Surviving brothers and sisters include Mrs. Ben Boyer, Larwill, William Rockey, 803 E. Van Buren St., Columbia City; Lewis Rockey and Frederick Rockey, Springport, Mich. Mrs. Almeda Redding, South Bend; Mrs. Lillie Bennett, Plymouth; Mrs. Norman Hobbs, Iowa City Ia.; Mrs Rosa Steinmer, Jackson, Mich.

The body was taken to the J.A. DeMoney Funeral Home, where friends may call after 7:30 o’clock Monday evening.

Services will be held at 3 o’clock on Wednesday afternoon at the DeMoney Funeral Home with Rev. Marion Shroyer officiating. Burial will be made in the Wolf Lake cemetery. (email- Judy G 13/2/06)

Funeral services were held at 3:00 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the DeMoney Funeral Home for Warren Harvey Rockey, East Van Buren street. The services were in charge of the Rev. Fred J. Densmore, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene.

Mrs. B.V. Widney, organist at the funeral home, presided at the organ during the service playing "Face to Face" and "Near the Cross." Fellow workers at the Columbia City Hardwood Co. who served as pallbearers were Alvin Glassett, Ernest Chapman, Walter Bardonner, Harley Pettit, Esta Keel, and Jack Peabody.

Committal services were held in the Wolf Lake cemetery.
