TOD: Waterloo Courier Obituaries, 1/19/2003, Waterloo Iowa. Eldo C. Westendorf (1927-2003) LA PORTE CITY --- Eldo C. Westendorf, 75, of 12702 Kline Road, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, of cancer. He was born Aug. 20, 1927, in Oran, son of John and Sophia Brandt Westendorf. He married Lola Thompson on June 11, 1950, in Garrison. She died Jan. 10, 1978. He then married Patricia F. Frein on Aug. 3, 1984, in Waterloo. Mr. Westendorf served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947 and was a retired farmer. Survived by: his wife; five sons, Michael of Cedar Falls, Mark (Cheryl) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Jeff (Marilyn) of Tampa, Fla., Jay (Lil) of Fort Myers, Fla., and David of Henderson, Nev.; three daughters, Sue (Dan) Keegan of Gilbert, Ariz., Sandy (Ron) Hackbarth of Raymond and Dee (Kurt) Kruse of Valrico, Fla.; two stepsons, Dean (Ramona) Frein of Marshalltown and Tom (Kelly) Frein of Waterloo; a stepdaughter, Sandi (Dennis) Brennan of Waterloo; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; two great-step grandchildren; two brothers, John of Waterloo and Wilber of Evansdale; and three sisters, Dale Schroedermeier of Greene and Marcia Drewes and Bernice Bauler, both of Waterloo. Preceded in death by: an infant daughter; and a brother Lester. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church, with burial in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Huisman Funeral Home, La Porte City, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Tuesday at the church. Memorials: may be directed to the family for their choice of charities.
