Er erblindete im Alter von etwa 20 Jahren wegen einem Verkehrsunfall.

Not letting the handicap deter him, he opened his own business, a broom shop in Dell Rapids, SD. His health was not the best after the accident, he died of Gout at the age of 37 years.
Funeral services were held in St. Mary's Church on the morning of May 30th for Anthony Hey who died Wednesday evening, May 27th, at his home after an illness of only two days.
"Tony" as he was best known, had lived with his parents here for the past 22 years. Some 14 years ago he was injured in an automobile accident, which resulted in total blindness. He attended the school for the blind at Gary and there learned the Braille system of reading. After returning he opened a broom factory which he operated for some time. In spite of his handicap Tony was energetic and took an active interest in the affairs of the community.
Anthony Hey was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hey on July 2, 1899, at Remsen, Iowa. The family moved in 1914 to a farm near Dell rapids, later moving to town, where they have since lived.
Besides the parents, survivors are nine brothers and sisters: Mrs. Geo. Sorsen, Mrs. Leland Cuyle and Norbert of White, S.D.; Roy Hey of Colman; Cyril Hey of Chester; Eleanor, Edwin, Ervin, Armella of Dell Rapids.
Interment took place in the Catholic Cemetery, Andrew Schwebach, Cleophas Bunkers, Ed Hourscht, Albert Bowar, Carl Staundenraus, Mike Weinacht were pallbearers.
John Hermanson was the undertaker in charge.
