Martin Joseph Ginsbach, 81, died on May 10, 2004 at Avera McKennan Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer.
Martin was born on May 13, 1922 to Michael and Adeline (Steffen) Ginsbach in Kingsley, Iowa. As a child, he moved with his family to Dell Rapids, South Dakota. He attended St. Mary's Grade School. Martin had a love for the land and worked for many area farmers.
On August 24, 1943, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Marie Bott. Together they cared for Marie's five younger sisters, while their home continued to fill with the addition of their own daughters. He began his farming career at the Sunny Side Dairy in Colman and continued to farm in the Colman, Orland, and Humboldt areas until he and Marie retired in 1997 to Hartford.
Martin was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wellington Township. Upon its closing, he was a member of St. Ann's Parish, Humboldt.
He will be missed deeply and lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Marie; daughters, Joanne Ginsbach, Hartford, Judith Redenius, Orange Park, FL, Kathleen Ackermann and husband, Peter, Bad Vilbel/Gronau, Germany, Cheryl Prunty and husband, Dan, Hartford; grandchildren: Martin and wife, Nina, Christine, and John Redenius, Michael and Petra Ackermann, and Adam and Sarah Prunty; great-grandchildren: Catherine, Christopher, Isabelle, Samantha, and Cassius Redenius; siblings: Bernard Ginsbach, Sioux City, IA and Sister Clare Ginsbach, Sinsinawa, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughters, Mary, Rita, and Karen; and siblings, Laurence, Charles, and Anthony Ginsbach and Mary Agnes (Ginsbach) Geraets.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, May 17, 2004, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Humboldt, SD, with interment at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Colman, SD.
