Charles G. “Charlie” Short, 68, of Aurora, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, at the Brookings hospital. Funeral services are Thursday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Brookings. Burial is in St. William’s Catholic Cemetery in Aurora. Charlie was born on Dec. 2, 1949, at Brookings, to Donald and Isabelle (Gebhart) Short. He served in Vietnam for 14 months. He returned to farm near Aurora where he was a lifelong farmer. He owned Charlie’s Bar in Aurora for several years.
He was a lifelong member of St. William’s Catholic Church.
Charlie is survived by two children, Vikki Robertson (Pete DePuma) and Chad (Kaydee) Short; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; six siblings, Mary (Gary) Messerli, Ed (Vanessa) Short, Robert (Mary Jane) Short, Joseph Short, Susan (Doug) Nelson and Father John Short; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Isabelle and his loving companion, Darlene Robinson.
