Arthur F. Nagel, 85, formerly of 3087 Central Ave., died of heart failure Friday, May 23, 2008, at his home, Sunset Park, surrounded by his family. Services will be at 7 p.m. Monday, May 26, at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.

He was born April 29, 1923, son of Arthur and Margaret (Aureden) Nagel. He married Eileen Voltz, May 31, 1948, in Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Arthur began his career as a residential home builder and property manager. Later, he was employed in the city of Dubuque as the city housing inspector for several years and retired from the Fischer Companies in 1985.

Arthur was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed by all.

Surviving are his wife, Eileen; four daughters, Catherine (Donald) Hayes, of Davenport, Iowa, Cynthia Tate, of Mondovi, Wis., Carla (Charles) Bertsch, of East Dubuque, Ill., and Sheila (Kevin) Slowey, of Bettendorf, Iowa; a son, Greg (Kim Daughetee) Nagel, of Dubuque; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Oliver Nagel, of Dubuque and John (Rita) Nagel, of Morrison, Ill.; and a sister, Dorothy (Hugh) Cox, of Madison, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, George; and a brother, Fred.
