Annabelle M. Gilbertson, 82, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque, following a lengthy illness.

Services will be Dec. 16, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. She was born on Dec. 5, 1927, in Potosi, Wis., daughter of Engelbert "Bert" and Beatrice (Loeffelholz) Duve. She married Merlin Gilbertson in 1947, in Rockford, Ill.; he preceded her in death on June 20, 1977.

Surviving are four daughters, Linda (Robert) Lottes, Ann Husemann, and Judith (William) Trowbridge, all of Dubuque, and Bonita (Eric) Timmerman, of Durango, Iowa; a son, Joseph (Becky) Gilbertson, of Kieler, Wis.; four brothers, Norman (Rita) Duve, Harvey (Diane) Duve, and David (Donna) Duve, all of Dubuque, and Joseph (Carol) Duve, of Montana; a sister, Theresa (Ronald) Bass, of Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Collin Weidenbacher; a son-in-law, John Husemann, in 2003; two sisters, Dr. Susan Jane Duve-Gonen and Elizabeth Moore; and a brother, Johnny Duve.
