Notes for this person
Col. George Pitkin was Clerk of the Superior and Supreme Courts for many years. Many old documents are now extant with the well authenticated signature of "G. Pitkin, Clerk." He was commissioned Captain in 1768; Lt Colonel in 1774; abd Colonel in 1775. He and his regiment of minute-men, immediately marched to the relief of Boston on receipt of the news of the struggle at Concord and Lexington. The well known family names on his muster-roll show an earnest response to the call for help in the early struggle of our country.
